The workshop provides a primer on creating and selling animation for a worldwide Industry, with a focus on television, while touching on new media and independent shorts and features. The workshop will provide participants with the basic information and tools needed to fully develop their own animated projects.

Over a day's talk and activities, participants will learn about:

1. The worldwide animation industry: key players, markets, formats
2. From an idea to a hit cartoon: how a show is made
3. The Development Process
4. Character, story, concept
5. The pitch bible and the pitch
6. Getting your idea onto the screen

About the Workshop Speaker

Ervin Ann
VP, Development, Scrawl Studios

Ervin Ann oversees development of new animation projects and intellectual properties at Scrawl Studios. His role involves working with creators, property owners and artists in developing original concepts and adaptations for Scrawl's animation pipeline for TV, film and new media. Ervin regularly pitches at international markets and is responsible for developing co-production and other business partnerships with companies around the world. Prior to joining Scrawl, Ervin worked at the MDA for 4 years where he played an active role in the agency's development of the fledgling local animation industry.
